Episode 164 – Blunders and Whitewashing

Yet another show starts with news of the sad passing of more celebrities. In the past two weeks British comedian Victoria Wood lost her battle with cancer at the age of 62 and music legend Prince was found dead at his home at the age of 57.

After this we cover stories that our listeners have sent in over the past couple of weeks including the fact that the Large Hadron Collider in Switzerland was short-circuited by a rodent gnawing through a 66KV wire, they think it was a weasel, but how they know that is a bit of a mystery.

Charity, Concern Worldwide, made a blunder in that it accidentally withdrew 100 times the amount pledged by its donors. Cyclist, Peter Kennaugh made some unsavory remarks about women's cycling that he instantly regretted.

The whitewashing of the Marvel cinematic is discussed after an article was sent in by a listener complaining that Marvel isn't casting the correct ethnicities in the correct roles. For example, Tilda Swinton - a white British woman - playing The Ancient One - an old Nepalese man. But, is this a problem of Marvel's or is it symptomatic of Hollywood in general, Ant and Tom attempt to get right to the bottom of the issue.
