Anywhere but Here is a general interest podcast that has been described as “A real yorkie podcast” by ‘A Random Listener’ we aren’t really sure what that means, but it sounds good.

Episode 264 - Mid-Life Crisis

On this episode Tom has some things to say about family matters, Ant worries about his fashion choices, we go over our Oscar predictions and find that we were largely right about most and depressingly (Toy Story 4) and surprisingly wrong (Parasite) about others.

It seems to be Billie Eilish's year as she absolutely smashed a version of Yesterday at the Oscars as well as the new Bond theme. Ant and Tom are both undeniably fans now. Plus, the guys got together last week to go watch The Interrupters.

All this and much more, enjoy!

Episode 263 - Shit Sandwich

This is the first episode of the Anywhere But Here podcast since we left the EU... or have we? Lots of debate and saltiness ensues.

But it's not all about Brexit, we also talk The Witcher, Wonder Woman (which Tom has actually seen!) and we make our predictions on the Oscars 2020.

Get in touch with us to let us know your Oscar picks and we'll go over them on the next episode.

Enjoy!

Tom's ill again, so a warning to those of you who don't like wheezing, coughing and mucus-y sounds this might not be the episode for you.

Apart from Tom's illness and his attempts to cure it Ant and Tom talk about the recent split in the royal family with Harry And Megan stepping away from the firm and going it alone. This draws comparison with event sin the Netflix series The Crown, which Tom has seen all of and Ant has started watching.

This leads down a rabbit hole of things that have been on TV recently including the BBC's adaptations of War of the Worlds and Dracula as well as Dr Who and The Witcher.

Episode 261 - Cases

The first episode of 2020 is a much more upbeat affair than the last one of 2019. But world events are really conspiring against this positive feeling. However, are we really on the verge of World War III?

Ant went to see Cats, the film, and the stage shows Waitress and Dear Evan Hansen and reports back. Tom took Jo to see Sir Ian McKellen on stage talking about his life and reports back.

Both their Christmases were really good fun, despite neither feeling particularly Christmassy in the lead up, and some of the major presents they received came in nice cases!

Enjoy!

In the absence of the expected guest this episode Ant and Tom have a chat about the various Christmas parties they've been to which range from the sublime to the absurd.

Lots of computer game chat sees them get onto the historical accuracy of games like the Assassin's Creed franchise and the fact neither of them have time for long-form games any more despite loving stories and continuing to buy and download games like the Halo series, Metal Gear Solid, Assassin's Creed and others.

Their lack of Christmas cheer is also dissected and it comes down to somewhere between the ridiculous amount of rain we've been having and not working in retail, listening to the radio or going into town to shop anymore.

Despite this, we wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. See you in 2020.

Ant is away on a festive family weekend this episode so Tom turned to long-time friends and collaborators Scott and Steven of Reel Britannia and Stinking Pause fame to have a chat about what they've been up to in the world of podcasting.

The main thrust of the episode though is another Off The Beat And Track rip off where Tom asks Scott and Steven, who are better known to listeners as predominantly film reviewers, to think back and reveal the songs that have soundtracked their lives.

Episode 258 - And On That Note

This week's episode sees Ant and Tom talk about the launch of Tesla's Cybertruck and whether Simone Giertz's homemade Truckla is actually better. Ant went to watch McFly which leads to a conversation about best venues and Tom went back to Las Vegas with work, which led to a lot of talk about films - most notably Fighting With My Family, and wrestling in general.

Also covered is Sasha Baron Cohen criticising social media censorship by stating that if Facebook had been around in the 1930s it would have allowed Hitler to spread his beliefs unfiltered, the Conservatives setting up a fake fact check account and the Prince Andrew interview over the Epstein allegations.

Episode 257 - Progress?

Ant and Tom are back together for the first time in what feels like ages. So much has happened that it's difficult to catch up on everything, but there have been emails and interactions from listeners and lots of stories in the news that chime with things that Ant and Tom have played and watched recently.

Films include Charlie Chaplin's City Lights and The Great Dictator, Terminator: Dark Fate and Joker. The video game Detroit: Become Human is also discussed. The news articles that relate to these titles include Brexit not going anywhere, the US justice system being broken, whether automation is really helping people at work or with their mental and physical health and the founder of Boston Dynamics pushing his one-year-old daughter over to learn how she balanced so he could program his robots to act more like humans.

Episode 256 - A Message

Ant is on his own this week due to a massive oversight on his part and as such he uses the opportunity to update you on some things such as; the Discord server he's set up, with some Patron-exclusive channels (link below) and just why he wasn't around for episode 255.

It's a short one so go and listen to one of the podcasts Tom recommended last week or Episode 256-and-a-bit.

Enjoy
