This episode of the Anywhere But Here podcast is a Spoilercast of the latest Disney Pixar film, Soul, which was released on Christmas Day 2020. Joining Ant and Tom to discuss the film in great detail, including a load of other films, is friend of the show, Andrew Bartlett who also teases some exciting podcasting news!
As ever with Spoilercasts, we're going to go full-spoilers and will discuss the plot in detail - which is why we've left it a month before posting it on the main feed. If you've not seen the film yet and want to watch it without knowing everything that's going to happen then go watch the film first before coming back here and listening.
Ant and Tom are joined for the first podcast of 2021 by the hosts of The All Seeing Guys Podcast; Greg and Joe. Getting on a podcast together has been on the cards for nearly 3 years now, so this is a breakneck segue-a-thon covering everything from Covid testing and Star Wars to throwing human shit at Number 10 Downing Street.
This episode was recorded on the 20th December 2020, the day after London and the South East of England - where we live - was put into a severe lockdown over Christmas meaning we won't be able to see anyone over Christmas except those in our support bubbles.
As such, this is a bit of a therapy session where Ant and Tom are coming to grips with what this all means and how we got here in the first place.
On a different note, our friend Greg, from The All Seeing Guys Podcast - and his brother-in-law Gianni managed to hit their Kickstarter goal for producing their book full of images and info on the original Kenner line of Star Wars toys. We're so happy that they managed to reach this goal against some odds and because they've put so much effort into creating it. Well done, guys.
On this episode Ant and Tom talk about the roll out of the coronavirus vaccine and how it came to be that the UK got it first is probably much more influenced by the impending no deal situation with Europe than a genuine world-leading philosophy from our government, or that it even cares for its citizens.
Things do chill out a bit when the topic of the Zodiac Killer and that some amateur code breakers have deciphered a message send to the San Francisco Chronicle 51 years ago.
Plus the latest series of The Crown is reviewed and Margaret Thatcher is compared to Thanos is a way that might surprise you!
On this episode of the Anywhere But Here Podcast, Ant and Tom talk about the biggest news event of the last week, the US Election. The discussion takes in the relief felt now that Joe Biden has been announced President Elect, the anxiety at what the hell Trump will do next, how the result came to be, as well as how it will affect Brexit now the Conservatives have lost their best ally.
All this and a lot more. Enjoy!
On this episode of the Anywhere But Here podcast Ant and Tom talk about jobs. Tom has recently been made redundant and is tossing up what to do with himself in the near future while Ant is finally past the training stage at his job while his course is also getting more interesting.
There's also some real talk (and practice) going into a reunion of High Frequency, Tom tells the latest origin story of that and the pair talk about their hopes for the project.
As Halloween is just around the corner, Ant and Tom discuss the horror based films and TV shows they've been watching recently.
On this week's episode Ant and Tom catch up about Ant's new job before being joined by Ande Case to talk about the Monsoon Jackson podcast that finished its second series this year.
Not the best year for creatives like Ande, we discuss the impact the lockdown has had on both his podcast series and his various film projects. But, as ever during these uncertain times, there are positives to be found.
Other topics touched on include Brexit, Black Lives Matter and anti-maskers.
